Ducatista
I have some very exciting news! I am officially an ambassador for Ducati Australia and New Zealand!!!! It came about quite organically but I'm very proud to partner up with Ducati - a company rich in Italian motorcycle history and culture.
This is especially cool because, as you may or or may not know, I am a massive rev-head. I have been riding motorbikes for 11 years now, and even worked on the MotoGP circuit for 5 years.
I started on small bikes when I first got my license (a Honda CBR250RR, and then an RVF400 when I wanted to start doing track days) and then upgraded to a Yamaha R6 when I got my full license. I have ridden several bikes since then, and even a couple of scooters, and done quite a few track days at Phillip Island and Eastern Creek. I'm not quite sure where my love for motorcycles developed, but it has remained true for many years and it feels good to be back working with a field I have such a passion and interest for. You'll still find me up curled up in front of the TV watching the MotoGP late on Sunday nights! Hopefully I'll get to head down to Phillip Island too at some stage.
What surprised me is that Ducati didn't yet have any female ambassadors. I know it's a male-dominated industry, but I'm here to represent the Aussie (and Kiwi) girls that share my love for 2 wheels :) Let me know if you're a fellow biker chick and we can organise some cool events and rides together!
I'm starting off with the absolutely gorgeous Ducati SuperSport S model - somewhere a cross between a Monster frame and the fully-faired sporty body of the Panigale. It's actually extremely comfortable to ride and purrs like a jungle cat ;) I couldn't be happier with her so far, I've done some general commuting (goodbye traffic!), running errands, hitting the freeway for a bit and some coastal rides on beautiful sunny days. She's an absolute dream, and so, so striking in the matte pearl white colour. She even starred in a TV commercial with me the day after I picked her up, I can't wait to share that one with you guys.
Already I've been approached to speak about Women in Riding at the Motorcycle Expo in November and hoping to get back to a track day or two in the coming months, but if you have a great event that you'd like to partner up, feel free to get in touch!
In the meantime, enjoy some photos by James Pralija of Crank Creative, this Ducatista is off for a ride up the Northern Beaches in the sunshine. Anyone keen to come?
